The jaw pivot geometry has been optimized for a lower force to cut over the tool's life. Cut soft materials (31HRC) up to 1/2" or 13mm thick, medium materials (42HRC) up to 7/16" or 11mm thick, and hard materials (48HRC) up to 3/8" or 10mm thick with the 30" fiberglass bolt cutter.

The H.K. Porter 28-inch ratcheting guy strand cutter has notched shear-cut blades that hold material firmly in place throughout the cut. This cutter is designed to cut EHS guy strand, mild steel rods and bolts, and similar materials. The ratchet and chain design applies up to 5 times the mechanical advantage of manual cutters.
